Keypads versus Card Readers / Biometrics

When the decision is made to lose the keys and start utilizing electronics to lock and unlock your doors, you will be faced with a question: keypad or card reader? Both will do the job but selecting the best technology for the application is imperative.

• Audit trail produces a print out when a card is used
• Time zones allow certain cards to operate specific time frames.

Biometrics

Previously, mostly used in government installations due to cost, biometric technology is now obtainable for the mass market. Retina, hand or finger scanners are the most widely used. To create the highest level of security a combination of biometric and proximity readers is recommended.
